The Legacy of Langdale Manor by Carrie Turansky tells the story of two women, Charlotte Harper and Gwen Morris. Charlotte lived a century earlier and is dealing with the aftermath of her father's death. She discovers a family secret that she can only share through her journal. Charlotte travels with her family to the Lake District in the hopes of finding a home with her grandfather at Longdale Manor. It's not an easy journey, given the wounds and regrets the family has experienced, but as Charlotte rebuilds her faith, she grows closer to shepherd Ian Storey, and must decide if she'll ever believe in love again.

In 2012, art historian Gwen Morris travels to Longdale Manor to appraise the estate's antiques. There she meets David Bradford, the desperate grandson of the owner. David wants to save the crumbling estate by turning it into a luxury hotel. As Gwen investigates the inventory, she comes across a journal from one hundred years ago, and an intricately carved shepherd's staff similar to one in a photo of her parents. This sends her on a journey to find answers about her family's past and her own identity.

The novel is a beautiful story of healing, faith, forgiveness, and romance, taking place over two hundred years in England's Lake District. Readers are taken on a journey of discovery as the legacy of Longdale Manor unfolds through the eyes of these two remarkable women. Carrie Turansky does an excellent job of weaving the two stories together, creating a captivating tale of hope and love that transcends time.
